We offer a variety of sport classes, from obedience to agility, designed to increase your bond while learning something new. Whether you want to compete or learn just for fun, our classes will give you the skills you need to be successful in the rewarding world of dog sports!

Classes Offered

Sport Foundation

Our Sport Foundation classes are taught with positive reinforcement and lots of fun! Perfect for whether you want to compete in rally, obedience, agility, or disc, these classes emphasize working on the fundamentals of focus, engagement, learning to learn, working through distractions, body awareness, confidence, and more!

Sport Foundation Level 1

This class is all about having a great time with our dogs while teaching them basic skills needed for sports and life. Much of what we teach our dogs for sports also helps make them great family pets: impulse control, settling, play, recalls, and having value for their handler in the face of distraction will all be covered, as well as shaping behaviours and body awareness. This class will help develop relationship between you and your future performance partner.

Pre-requisite: puppies and dogs should have a minimum of two levels of basic training and be comfortable working near other dogs and people.

Sport Foundation Level 2

Building on the skills and concepts introduced in Sport Puppy Level 1, Level 2 will introduce our dogs to even more games and challenges that will help grow confidence and focus in sport and life. We will ask a little more of our dogs in this level, without over facing them, by adding more distractions, increasing duration, and teaching them new physical skills, as appropriate for their growing bodies and minds.

Pre-requisite: puppies and dogs should have completed Sport Foundation Level 1 and be comfortable working near other dogs and people.

Agility Classes

Agility classes taught by Hannah Packowski and Shannon George. Our agility classes are taught with positive reinforcement and lots of fun! Dogs learn how to use agility equipment properly and how to handle small sequences.

Dogs need to have completed Sport 1 and Sport 2 (or equivalent) prior to this class.

Rally Obedience Classes

Our rally classes are based on positive reinforcement training and fun for dog and handler alike!

Rally is perfect for those new to dog sports. The sport of rally obedience combines teamwork, basic obedience, and fun in a low pressure, supportive environment. This class is for teams that have no rally experience and would like to learn about the sport. Dogs should have completed a minimum of two previous levels of basic obedience and be able to work around other dogs.

*New* Introduction to Rally Obedience

If you are completely new to the sport of Rally Obedience, this is where to start! In this relationship building introductory class, our instructor will introduce you the basics of Rally in a fun and motivating way.

Pre-requisite: dogs should have completed at least Sport Level 1.

Novice Rally - Level 3

This class is focused on students who have taken the Novice Rally course and now preparing them for a Novice rally competitions.

7 week classes, 60 minute class.

Advanced/Excellence Rally

This class is will work advanced and excellence rally signs in courses either on or off leash. (Please note, this semester class is combined with the Excellent/Masters Class)

Excellent/Masters Rally

This class is will work excellent and masters rally signs in courses as well the rules around judging masters. Dogs should be able to work off leash at this level. (Please note, this semester class is combined with the Advanced/Excellence)

Formal Obedience Classes

Formal or Competitive Obedience is a dog sport that test a dog's understanding of commands, including sit, lie down, stay, heel and come. While not all students choose to compete, many make it a goal to compete at a CKC trial. Regardless of your goals, all obedience classes are based on positive reinforcement training and current, science-based knowledge on how dogs learn and are motivated.

Beginner Obedience, Level 1

This is level one of a three level program, which prepares handlers for Novice Trial Prep.

Progress through the levels will be based on team’s progress and dog’s maturity. The focus is on building a strong team relationship and establishing a strong foundation for formal exercises.

Requirements: dog has completed at least 2 levels of class (can be Puppy Skills but preferably the Sport Foundation program) and is at least 10 months old.

Beginner Obedience, Level 2

This is level two of a three level program, which prepares handlers for Novice Trial Prep.

Requirements: dog has completed at level 1, Beginner Obedience (or equivalent).

Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Beginner Obedience, Level 3/Novice Trial Prep

This class will review the exercises introduced during the Beginner level 3 program and begin the refinement of formal exercises in preparation for the Pre Novice and Novice competition ring. Handlers should have a current copy of CKC rules for reference in class.

Requirements: dog has completed Beginner Obedience, Level 2
